Supporting Gippsland

The Regional Specialist Training Fund (RSTF) Project

Elevating the aged care sector and its people is always front of mind at Selmar, and the Regional Specialist Training Fund (RSTF) project is set to help us continue to do just that.

The Regional Specialist Training Fund (RSTF) project is a state government-funded initiative aimed at addressing crucial employment gaps that require a skilled workforce for Australia’s aged care sector to thrive. As the RTO for this RSTF opportunity, Selmar is committed to supporting the Gippsland region. Our goal is to provide training for a meaningful career path for those passionate about making a difference in aged care. This is an exclusive opportunity in the Gippsland region only.

Through the RSTF, Selmar has partnered with local aged care employers to deliver hands-on traineeships. Ongoing employment opportunities may be offered by local employers for successful applicants, ensuring a well supported and comprehensive training experience with rewarding long-term career prospects.

Unique training and employment opportunity

The RSTF project offers a unique combination of theory learning and hands-on training in a real-world setting. Participants will complete a CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support qualification while gaining invaluable practical experience working in aged care communities. This initiative is not just a job — it's a stepping stone to a fulfilling career in one of the fastest growing sectors in Australia.

How it works:

The RSTF project will provide two intakes, one in October 2024 and one in March 2025. Participants will be employed for a minimum of 15 hours per week, with paid time off the floor to support structured study hours and training. We believe in the importance of balancing commitments, so there are no unpaid hours required between work and study.

As part of a cohort group, the RSTF offers participants the chance to discover a career within a collaborative and encouraging environment. Each trainee will be supported by a strong sense of community throughout, along with ongoing assistance from an Employer-side Traineeship Coordinator, a dedicated Selmar Trainer & Assessor and Selmar consultants.

Getting involved in Selmar’s RSTF Project

This opportunity is ideal for anyone seeking a career that genuinely impacts communities and lives. The aged care sector plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life and dignity of elderly individuals. As well as a pathway to an inspiring aged care career, the RSTF project offers:

  • Work-based training empowering you to earn while you learn
  • Comprehensive training support and resources for optimal success
  • A Skillset Program preparing learners for work placement

As a participant you will engage in hands-on training with a Gippsland aged care employer with paid time allocated for training. This initiative aims to ensure trainees are fully prepared and supported throughout their journey.

Our Proud Partners

I cannot explain how valuable and appreciated it is to have such prompt and constructive feedback from my trainer Natasha. She is always readily available to provide support. I attribute a large part of my success so far, to the marvellous support and mentoring I am receiving.
