Virtual activities for children
If you would prefer some online and virtual activities to keep children busy, there are a range of different ways to have fun, stay fit and learn all from the click of a mouse. We’ve compiled a list of engaging virtual activities that children of any age will be interested to try:
PE with Joe
YouTube fitness instructor, Joe Wicks has become a PE teacher for the world after the coronavirus pandemic caused many schools to close and children to be stuck at home in self isolation. From his home in London, Joe live-streams child-friendly workouts every weekday and uploads them to his YouTube channel to keep children moving and energised. His 30 minute videos include warm-ups, workouts and cool down exercises and are a great way for children to keep entertained in a healthy and positive way.
Virtual Zoo
Zoos Victoria invites you to enjoy the zoo all from the comfort of your lounge room. Live stream cameras have been set up around Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo to allow children to watch various animals such as penguins, zebras, snow leopards, lion and giraffes throughout the day.
Cosmic Kids Yoga
Cosmic Kids Yoga provides a range of yoga designed specifically for children aged 3 and above. Each video has a different theme and offers dance videos, guided relaxation and work outs. Each video contains colourful backgrounds, a storyline and a range of poses that correlate to the theme of the video, making it a fun and engaging way for children to learn yoga.
Story time from space
This is as cool as it gets – children can have a storybook read to them by an astronaut in space! Choose from a list of different books, click play and watch as an astronaut defies gravity while reading a storybook out loud to viewers. Children will love getting to see inside a real spacecraft while listening along to space-related stories.
Melbourne Museum online jigsaw puzzles
