Funding your future: How to cover your course fees

Deciding on a course that will take you along the career path that you want to go is exciting. The last thing you want is to be put off by financial stress, wondering how you will pay for your studies.

Education is an important investment, so having options to plan to fund your course can take the pressure off and enable you to get started, worry-free. At Selmar we provide our learners with funding options that help them to commence their studies sooner.

Help with paying for course fees

Help with course fees across early childhood

Whether you’re looking to study our Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or the Diploma of School Age Education and Care, we can support you with covering your course fees so you can focus on getting your early childhood education career up and running, or take it up a notch through upskilling.

Best of all, the faster you move in to this booming sector, the less financial worry you will have, with excellent employment prospects and plenty of room to advance in early childhood education.

Let’s explore the options you have to get a helping hand with your course fees and start studying.

Government funding for early childhood education

Option number one to help with your course fees is exploring your eligibility for government funding. Fees and funding vary from state to state, but government funding options can cover some or all of your course fees if you meet the required criteria.

  • If you’re in Victoria, the Skills First program applies
  • For those studying in NSW, the Smart and Skilled program is offered
  • Queenslanders can check if they are eligible for the Certificate 3 Guarantee

JobTrainer funding

If you are a job seeker or a younger person who is unemployed or has just left school, taking advantage of JobTrainer is a great opportunity to make a start toward a career in a booming sector.

You may be able to access a free or low-fee course via JobTrainer if you:

  • Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen or asylum seeker, and
  • You are between 17 and 24 years old when your course commences; or
  • You are a job seeker of any age. A job seeker is defined as a person who holds a current Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veteran’s Gold Card or is unemployed.

And don’t be put off if you weren’t eligible for previous Government funding. This doesn’t mean that you won’t fulfil the criteria to be eligible for JobTrainer — even if you have previous qualifications. JobTrainer does not have the ‘two at a level in a lifetime’ limit like other funding initiatives. For example, if you already completed a VET certificate as part of your secondary schooling, or a school-based traineeship you may still be eligible to undertake further study with the support of JobTrainer. There are also no upskilling requirements, so it could be the right time to pursue an entirely fresh career.

Take a look at the full eligibility document here, but feel free to contact our team to discuss whether JobTrainer might benefit you.

Cover course fees with interest-free payment plans

If it turns out that government funding is not an option to help you with course fees, never fear — our payment plans are here and they are interest free!

The Catalyst Plus payment plan enables learners to pay off their course fees in manageable instalments, without the stress of hidden fees or interest on top.

We know that forms and applications can be overwhelming, so we have made it super simple to apply for your Catalyst Plus payment plan and get it up and running in no time.
