Breaking Barriers in Early Learning: Making the CHC50125 Diploma More Accessible for Educators

At Selmar, we know that no two educators follow the exact same path. Many gain experience through years of hands-on work, while others train through different qualification codes or skill sets. That’s why the latest updates to the CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care are such a positive change.

The updated qualification expands the entry requirements, with changes that recognise that skills and experience are gained in many different ways, and now those journeys are officially valued.

Now, more educators can see their commitment and skills acknowledged as they step into the next stage of their career.

Pathways that reflect your journey

The CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care still delivers the high-quality, nationally recognised training that builds confidence and equips educators with the knowledge and skills to thrive. You’ll graduate ready to lead teams, nurture children’s development, and take on more responsibility in your service.

You can now enrol if you meet one of the following requirements:

  • Hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113 or CHC30121); OR
  • Hold an Australian Certificate III in Children’s Services plus at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last five years in a regulated service, supported by verifiable evidence; OR
  • Hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care skill set.

This flexibility means that your experience and commitment to early learning can now count towards advancing your career.

Recognising skills, not just codes

Strong, confident leaders are vital to the early childhood education sector.

This update ensures that your journey, whether through formal study, practical workplace experience, or targeted skill sets, can help you progress into the Diploma and contribute toward laying a strong foundation for children. When educators are supported to grow, the whole community benefits.

Pathways beyond the Diploma

The CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care is also a pathway to even greater opportunities.

Diploma graduates may be able to gain credit towards a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood Teaching or Early Childhood & Primary Teaching) through our university partners, Swinburne Online.

This creates a clear route to higher qualifications, helping you build on your Diploma and continue to grow in your career.
