The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care has been updated, offering new entry requirements designed to make it easier for passionate educators to take the next step in their careers. These changes recognise the different ways people gain skills and experience in the sector, providing more pathways into this nationally recognised qualification.
Along with the updated entry criteria, the qualification code has changed from CHC50121 to CHC50125. While the course content itself has not changed, these new pathways mean more educators can now access opportunities to move into leadership roles and further their impact in early learning.
Same course, more pathways
The CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care continues to deliver the same comprehensive knowledge and practical skills that early childhood employers value. You’ll graduate prepared to lead teams, support children’s development, and take on greater responsibilities in your service.
What’s different is the way you can gain entry. The new criteria open the door for a broader group of educators to enrol.
Updated entry requirements for CHC50125
You can now enrol in the CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care if you meet one of the following:
- Hold a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30113 or CHC30121); OR
- Hold an Australian Certificate III in Children’s Services AND provide evidence of at least 12 months cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last five years in a regulated education and care service in Australia; OR
- Hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care skill set.
These expanded entry requirements mean that even if your training journey has looked a little different, your experience and commitment to the sector are still recognised and can help you advance in your career.
