Responsibilities of Aged Care Team Leader
Monitor care delivered to clients/patients
You need to be across the care standard delivered by all carers within your team, ensuring that all are providing consistently high-quality care. Where there are issues with the standard of care, you will be responsible for addressing it and dealing with it appropriately.
Planning and innovation
Planning programs, workshops, activities and more within your care setting is a way that you can contribute to providing high-quality care. Your experience and knowledge of the industry can enable you to plan the best approach to caregiving within your team and at your workplace.
Effectively communicating with patients and staff
Fostering positive relationships with your team is really important for an Aged Care Team Leader. Your role involves establishing and maintaining open lines of communication between staff members and between staff and families. Positive relationships are essential and should be built on trust and respect for one another.
Taking care of the roster for your team is your responsibility. You will need to be aware of the hours and availability of your team members and roster them accordingly.
To stay accountable and on top of patient care, you will need to complete administrative tasks as part of your role.
What is needed to become an Aged Care Team Leader
A combination of qualifications and experience are required to be an Aged Care Team Leader.
Complete a minimum qualification of Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015) and look at continuing your training with a Certificate IV in Ageing Support (CHC43015) These nationally recognised qualifications will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed as an Aged Care Team Leader.
