Finding jobs in Australia

Spending time finding jobs in Australia can feel like a full time job in itself. While there are plenty of jobs out there, when you don’t have qualifications, options can feel limited.

You might have been looking at retail jobs without any luck — probably because according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data, there are almost 20,000 fewer jobs available in retail than this time last year.

New results released from the 2016 Census data show that aged care and child care workers are the fastest growing jobs in the country. This data supports the encouraging growth figures for both the aged care and child care industries as we shared in May earlier this year.

With a high demand for talented and passionate individuals in aged care and child care, now is the time to join the 56 per cent of Australian adults who hold tertiary qualifications and get qualified. Finding jobs in Australia will be a breeze with qualifications in the aged care or child care sector.

Earn while you learn

Consider working in a rewarding child care position where you can give children the best start and earn while you learn. According to ACECQA, once you enrol and start your course in child care you could commence working in a centre under the ‘actively working towards’ provisions.

How much will you be paid as a child care worker? Payscale says you can expect to earn a salary from $39,324 to $57,668 when you are employed as a child care worker in Melbourne.

Aged care workers in Melbourne can earn a salary of approximately $37,000 to $58,164. Aged care work can offer a variety of shifts and hours including nights for those wanting to work around children and other commitments.
